Mini shopping spree - jewellery, nail varnish, lips and shoes

Hello there,

I'm trying so hard to be good and not spend much as I'm off on holiday soon over to Belgium. Well, that was the plan anyway. As you'll see below I didn't succeed, but I love what I bought anyway.

I'm a real magpie when it comes to jewellery and anything sparkly. I can't seem to walk past a shop without stopping to see what's for sale. I'm seriously starting to run out of storage room for it all - I think that's definitely another blog post for the future.

These little sparklies were part of 2 for 1 offer at New Look. So it was easy to persuade myself and my mother to buy a pair each.

I fell in love with this necklace from Dorothy Perkins. I love long, feature necklaces and this feels so tactile. I wore it yesterday and couldn't stop playing with it. Sainsburys are also selling the exact same necklace but for 50p more

Rings - the bigger the better! I have a love for all things coral and peach at the moment and this was a perfect buy from Peacocks. For only £2 you know you're not getting anything high end, but I really don't care. It's fun jewellery and makes me smile

After all that jewellery shopping, another favourite of mine - Poundland. I had heard about the CK lip glosses for sale in there. Now I'm not a fan of lip gloss - or any lipstick really. But for only a £1 each, it was worth a try.

The dark colour was a bit of an eek moment to be honest. I doubt it will get much use and will be destined for an evening/party look only. But the paler shade was so pretty. Plus the little pots are perfect for popping into pockets and small handbags.

No shopping trip seems to be complete without a purchase from Barry M at Superdrug. I needed a new base and topcoat and how beautiful is this glitter polish?

And finally Primark. I'm very lucky that I don't really have wide feet (just wide ankles!) so many of their cheaper fashion shoes fit perfectly. These were £4 each so I didn't feel too guilty buying one of each colour.

So often on shoes like this, I find the ankle strap isn't big enough for wide ankles. These are fine though with a bit of room to spare.

Hope you you liked having a peek at what I bought - I really must be good now though!

Jileon wide calf wellies*

Hi everyone,

I don't know about you, but I've lost count of the number of times I've pottered along on walks in the country or by the beach and gazed enviously at those lucky souls with colourful wellies - some even managing to tuck their jeans into them. For years I've had to make do with ankle wellies that are no good for puddle jumping (trust me - I've tried).

But - no more - thanks to Jileon wide calf wellies. Jileon sell some amazing wellies for adults and children in a variety of colours and sizes. Their extra wide fit hard wearing wellies in a gorgeous chocolate* have made me a very happy bunny indeed.

Very happy - can you tell?

I love the colour of these. I'm not a real flowery person so these were perfect. Neutral enough to wear with most colours and not too dark to wear in the summer.

The sole are heavy duty and with enough grip to safely navigate the muddiest of paths. There are straps on the sides and back to adjust to your calf width. I didn't fully tighten the back ones so they look a bit gappy in some of the pictures.

They even come in their own little carry bag.

I wore straight leg jeans in these picture with a pair of socks as well. It did mean there was a bit of bunching up around the ankle area so maybe next time a pair of slim leg trousers, jeggings or something similar would be better. I normally take a 7 in boots, and these were true to size but I wouldn't be able to wear any thick socks so maybe in the future an 8 would work as well.

But look - wellies with jeans tucked in! It may seem a little thing - but it's the little things that matter.

Thanks for reading

Fuerteventura holiday - part 2

Hi everyone,

Part two of my little trip to Fuerteventura.

I stayed at the resort of Caleta de Fuste on the east side. It's quite near the airport so no long tedious airport transfers. But if the noise of planes overhead bugs you - then this isn't the resort for you.

Apart from the plane noise, it's a very quiet resort. I was there quite early in the year but it definitely seemed to cater for the older visitor. So if you like plane spotting and not a lot to do - this would be the perfect place to be - I loved it!!!

This first photo was my favourite place for a lazy breakfast of crepes, bananas, nutella and ice-cream! Perfect holiday breakfast.

It took me a while to find maxi dresses that I felt comfortable in. This is one of them. It doesn't swamp me (at 5'3) and is a beautiful jewel green colour with purple trim.

Dress - Indigo at Marks and Spencer (22) old

Night time at the hotel complex

You're never too old for a miniature train I say.

Excuse the blurry photo, my camera phone was having a wobbly 5 mins. This is an all in one dress from Simply Be (22). I liked the idea of the convenience of skirt and top together and I loved the spotted print. But it did crease badly and the material for the skirt was quite stiff. It's since been reduced on the Simply Be website and I wish now I had paid the cheaper price - oh well!

And nothing better than a bit of colour clashing to round this post off with.

Thanks for reading about my little trip and letting my share some of my holiday outfits with you.

Fuerteventura holiday - part 1

Hi everyone,

This is a bit of a long one, so I've split it into two. I'm still catching up with bits and pieces and I realised this evening that all my holiday posts were still sitting in folders as drafts - argh!

Anyway, a month or so ago sun was needed - anywhere! So an evening searching for something cheap and cheerful resulted in a booking being made for week in Fuerteventura. Now I have been here before - but not until I dug through some old guide books did I realise it was 19 years since the last visit!!

The resort picked was Caleta de Fuste, the same as before. I had hoped to recognise a few places, but nope! Not a thing. Guess a lot changes in 19 years! Which is a good thing really as I'm not a fan of going back to the same place on holiday (exception being Las Vegas - but that's a whole other blog post).

Now I'm not really a beach holiday type of person anymore. So this was a hard holiday to pack for. Thank goodness for Primark where I picked up this sundress for a fiver - can't go wrong for that!

About 5 years ago, I would never have dreamt of wearing vest tops, shorts, short skirts etc. But now, what the hell! I know that blogging, both reading others and writing my own little blog has helped a lot. Plus I seem to be more confident the older I get.

Skirt - Indigo at Marks and Spencer (20) old
Top - old
Shoes - Crocs

Now, I normally take a 20 or 22 in trousers depending on style/cut etc. But shorts seem to have a sizing all of their own!! I ended with a 24 as I knew I'd be hot and I definitely didn't want anything clingy or tight. I did need to take the waist in, but the legs were a good fit and felt comfortable and cool.

Shorts - Simply Be (24)
Top - Primark (20)

Mocktails! I'm really not a drinker at all, so anywhere that does mocktails and gives me a chance to have an umbrella and sparkly bits in my drink gets my vote :-)

I think this is one of my favourite dresses. It's few years old now and comes from Inspire at New Look (22). It doesn't show on the photos so much, but it comes with a gorgeous deep purple lining under the lace and is so comfortable.

Slippers - classy!

So thats's part 1 - part 2 to follow shortly.

Thanks for reading
