Pink Clove colour changing star raincoat

Have you ever owned anything as an adult that you wish you could have had a child?

When I saw this raincoat on It's Em's insta stories, I knew I had to have one (and that younger Cathy would have loved it and worn it 24/7).

To start with, I was looking for a new, lightweight raincoat. Something that would pack up fairly small and not be too heavy to have in the bottom of a rucksack while on holiday. I so nearly went with a floral option on the Pink Clove website but I'm glad I held out and chose this star print.

It's from the Brave Soul range and I ordered the 22/24. Definitely long on the arms and big in the body, but it gave me the extra space to wear it over a jumper - which in the British summer is pretty standard.

The stars look white with a hint of colour, but the minute they get wet, they change colour. The other half suggested using a watering can to demonstrate this for the blog photos - I'm not entirely sure he was joking so opted to wait for a rainy day instead!

It's not going to keep me super dry in a very heavy downpour, but it's perfect for a light shower and enough to keep you dry until you get under cover. Unless, if you're like me, you stay out in the rain watching the stars....

A March & April round-up

Hello there,

As I mentioned in a previous post - March was a bit of a smurfy month. I did manage to do a few other things though!

I had a beautiful sunny day at Gunwharf Quays and watched the cross channel ferries while sat next to the Spinnaker Tower, I met the stone animals at Whiteley Village and travelled on the quietest tube train I've ever seen.

I didn't do many outfit posts though - maybe because they always seem to end up like this....

That was my March and April - how was yours?

Blogmas day 3 - flying Santa and donuts

Hello there,

Day 3 of Blogmas has seen a flying Santa over Southampton!

Now Southampton is a pretty big city, but over the last few years, the Christmas lights in the city centre have been pretty miserable. So when the council announced a new German Market, new lights and a daily flying Santa show - we had to go and investigate.

We got there early while the market was still quiet and we could look round without getting squashed.

One of the nicest things about markets like this is all the food and treats you can buy. While we waited for Santa to arrive we tried some German donuts.

Oh my goodness - these were the best donuts ever! Nothing like the normal donuts you get at funfairs. These were more like little sponge cakes and were so light. We opted for the Nutella version (of course!) and one bag was plenty for 2 people. I'm actually temped to go back to the market just for another serving of these.

Then at 5, Santa arrived. It was magical to see so many little children excited and waving to him. This sort of show is the only one in the UK and lasts around 10 to 15 minutes. If you're in the area, I would really recommend going to see it. I have to admit that it was a lot better than I was expecting.

As he flew towards the Bargate (the castle like building in the distance) the sleigh had fireworks. It does look like he's on fire here, but trust me, it looked good in real life.

I tried to get some video, but sadly failed. However there are some excellent clips on YouTube like this one here:

Day 3 of the Sephora Advent Calendar was an odd one - so odd I didn't know what it was! I'll show you all what it is when I do day 4 tomorrow.

You can't have too much My Little Pony and Poundland...can you?

Hello everyone,

I have a glorious backlog of blog posts coming up over the next month as for the last few weeks I've been off and away on holiday (or holibobs as I like to call it!). So bear with me and normal service will be resumed soon (if I can remember what normal is supposed to be).

I had a mini spree this weekend with my budget head on. First up was a trip to Poundland. OMG - I love this place. I don't think it's actually possible to go into my local branch without spending at least a fiver - and this time was no different.

I've probably mentioned before that make-up and all things related are a bit of a mystery to me. I tend to never wear anything on my face and even if I'm glamming up for a night out, it's mostly eyes only for me. I have ventured down the BB cream route recently and so far so good ( I have my eye on a BB cream from the Body Shop). So buying makeup at discount stores and knowing they're a good brand makes the whole make-up/experimenting process a bit less scary and a lot kinder on the old purse strings if I mess up.

So keeping with the eyes theme, this is what I got

I love the vibrant red in the Union flag palette. It looks more orangy in the picture than it actually is. The purple scandeleyes eye cream is deep purple and easy enough even for me to blend. I also added in a foundation brush to try to learn how to use one. See? I really need a set of make-up lessons I'm thinking :-)

Then on the way home, I popped into Tescos and just happened to walk through the F&F clothing section (even if it was on a different floor...oops). But I resisted temptation and only came back with these adorable My Little Pony socks - they're almost too sweet to wear!! I plan to wear these with some t-bar shoes this autumn.

All this for £11. Not too bad I think.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my little haul and thanks for reading.

Outfit August day 10 and being a bit silly!

Hi everyone

Day 10 already! I'm not sure I can say a lot about this photo, but this is the sort of thing that happens when you spend all day working. I work from home and love it, but sometimes, this is just how I look at the end of the day.
(no - I have no idea what I'm doing with my hair......)

The t-shirt is from Next. I find the tops from Next are generally pretty good (this was a size 22) but their skirts and trousers are a bit hit and miss in the sizing for me.

Don't forget to have a look to see what everyone else is up to:

Devon delights

Hello all!

I can't quite believe it's the second week of June already - where did May go??

I've been very lax with writing anything down. Lots of photos and ideas - just no organisation. Bad me :-( It's been a weird few months with friends in hospital, my birthday and a holiday. So let's start with something lovely and a trip we took to Devon.

The West Country is really one of my most favourite places in the world. I'm especially fond of the area around Okehampton and can see a day in the future where I'm living in a Devon cottage surrounded by animals (my other dreams feature Las Vegas - very different!!). We're lucky enough to have family with a holiday home near to Okehampton so it's a beautiful retreat from the mad world

Lots of piccies, but these sum up the holiday for me. The first day we were there the sun shone on us and we ended up very pink (serves me right I guess for leaving suntan lotion at home!). I just think this photo looks like a hot shimmery afternoon

I did start the day off by wearing a fab lace top over this vest, but that was soon discarded - too hot!! So this was my cool and collected look to start the day...

Skirt - Joe Browns @ Simply Be (old - size 20)
Top - Marks and Spencer (old- size 20)
Shoes - Clarks (old) (v.comfy!!)
Glasses - Primark

And I ended up like this...but who cares! It's a Dartmoor pony!

The next few days took a turn for the worst - so a perfect opportunity to unleash my inner geek! The Classic Air Force Museum at Newquay is a perfect place for a wet day.

It even stopped raining - briefly...

All aboard a VC10

Then finally at the end of the week the sun was back! So off we hoped to Exeter for a bit of antique hunting down on the Quay and a visit to the Cathedral. Before we went, a bit of posing :-)

Top and Jeans - Marks and Spencer (old - size 20 )
Shoes - Sainsburys

I have no idea what I'm doing here - but I saw no ships!

Inside the Cathedral was beautiful. I'm not a very religious person to be honest but I do love a mooch around a church.

And finally, one of the views we woke up to each morning - I wish I was still there now!
