Lou-Lou's Vintage fair at Southampton Guildhall

Hello there,

For the first time in ages, it's felt like a proper spring weekend. So what better way to celebrate than a trip out to have a rummage through a vintage fair?

Lou Lou's Vintage Fair were at Southampton Guildhall this weekend just gone. The Guildhall itself is a beautiful building. It was opened in 1937 and is part of the civic buildings that house Southampton City Council, Art Gallery and Library. I've seen many a show here and with the regeneration currently going on at this end of Southampton, I'm pretty sure it's got a long life ahead of it.

Although it's a pretty small space once inside - there was a lot packed in. One thing I noticed this year was a really good selection of mens wear- which often seems overlooked at vintage fairs.

Caught in the act!

Curlies Vintage - I've seen this seller before. It would be so easy to spend a small fortune here, they have an amazing choice of jewellery and bits & pieces.

And of course - there was cake! A huge selection of homemade cakes in every flavour you could imagine. I opted for the Chocolate Victory cake - I said it tasted of my childhood and it really did! Just like the cakes my mother used to make.

This was a lovely way to spend a few hours on a Saturday morning. I love a good old rummage through a vintage fair. And of course, something had to come home with me: a little pomander pendant.

Yellow vintage fair - August and sunshine

Hello there,

Last March I braved the wind and rain and visited the Yellow Vintage Fair held at The Ageas Bowl, home of Hampshire Cricket. This time round, the weather was an awful lot kinder - thank goodness!

We also had more time to enjoy the live music, vintage cars and have a good old nose around all the stalls. I could easily have spent a small fortune on all the vintage jewellery stalls. I'm a real magpie with anything sparkly and colourful.

It was lovely to have a chat with some of the sellers, many I remembered from March. One stall in particular - Curlie's Vintage caught my eye (and my purse). I could easily have bought everything they had for sale

So many vintage style dresses for sale - I did a bit of a squeak when I saw a whole rail dedicated to sizes 20-28

My own outfit for the day was a black and white checked dress from Simply Be. When I first got it, I was in two minds over whether to keep it or not. By the time I'd made up my mind, it was too late to return anyway. Which is just as well, as I love it now!

Some other stalls that caught my eye

I so need this bag in my life....

As the weather was so lovely, this little ice-cream selling caravan seemed to be doing a roaring trade

And it seemed rude not to indulge (salted caramel - gorgeous)

Some of my favourite purchases from the day (there's also a stack of Commando magazines for him himself - no photos of that unfortunately)

Handmade pass/travel card holders

Yellow Vintage Fairs are such a good day, there really is something for everybody and I lost count of the number of times I walked past a stall saying 'I remember having one of those when I was a kid!'. Can't wait for the next one now.

Yellow Vintage Fair

Hi everyone,

First day of summer seemed like a perfect time to go The Yellow Vintage Fair which was being held at The Ageas Bowl (home of Hampshire cricket). Well, the weather had something to say about that and it was a bit of a wet and windy day (blowing a hoolie as we say here).

That didn't stop loads of people turning up though - to the point where I was wondering if I would ever find where I'd parked my car. And despite some poor stallholders battling with the elements, everyone I spoke to was cheerful and happy. I have a theory that it must be the British in us where we secretly like the terrible weather!!

Lots of photos taken so here are just a few of the sights that caught my eye and some of the goodies I bought.

I have never heard of flavoured candy floss - I was very tempted and it smelt gorgeous

Jewellery made from poker chips - amazing idea

He's a bit blurry, but I loved this little chap

Sneaky view of the cricket pitch

Fantastic clothes from the Southampton shop Beatnik Emporium

Some of what I bought on the day

From Molly's Bazaar

Curlies Vintage

I love these earrings - they made them for me there and then as I liked the pattern so much - great service!
